this series is an exploration of Kirigami, a traditional Japanese paper-cutting art that combines elements of origami (paper folding) with cutting. the word “kirigami” is derived from the Japanese words “kiru” (to cut) and “kami” (paper). here, the author created intricate designs by folding paper and making precise cuts to produce a finished piece, all inspired by the Wotruba Church in Vienna, Austria, given its unique and striking example of modernist ecclesiastical architecture with traces of Brutalism. besides their simplicity, they express bold structures with a focus on the raw and honest expression of the material.
